Everyone will want to mark the evening of November 14, 2016 on their calendars.

On that date, a very rare and special lunar event will be happening – a supermoon – but not just any supermoon.

It will be the biggest and brightest in 60 years.

A supermoon is a phenomenon that occurs when a full moon coincides with the moon being the closest it gets to the Earth on its orbit.

As a result, the moon will appear much larger and brighter than the usual full moon.

Supermooons are roughly 30% larger in area and 30% brighter than the smallest full moon.

Supermoons are technically called a “perigee full moon” and the last time one happened that was this big was almost 70 years ago on January 25, 1948.
